PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - The Phnom Penh Magistrate's Court announced Monday the release of two Korean women charged with killing a Korean man last year.
Koreans and Cambodians in the courtroom welcomed the ruling by Judge Duch Kimsorn and the release of Cho Mina, 31, and Kim Jung Rye, 36, who were holding each other crying.
The two were arrested at De Castle Condo on June 7 last year and charged with killing a 44-year-old Korean man named Chang.
Through a translator, two Korean women said they had been in a room with the victim but denied killing him.
The judge said the case was unusual as it was based on Cambodian and Korean investigations but that he could not prosecute the suspects based on the Cambodian Penal Code.
